The FOIE GRAS project (2017-2020) is a European Training Network (ETN) funded by the EU H2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and providing advanced education to 13 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) working in the field of biomedical research.
The chronic consumption of a high-fat and high-sugar diet combined with a sedentary lifestyle and the lack of physical activity are the cause for many metabolic diseases, namely Obesity, Type II Diabetes and Insulin Resistance. In the liver, these habits provoke the unhealthy accumulation of fat, a condition called Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). This network focuses on the discovery of the cellular mechanisms driving this liver disease and how to clinically address it.
