My video is about my trip to Toronto. I chose to work on this free creation project on a video format that mixes real video capturer and motion design, because this is the course that I plan to follow next year and it is also the type of format that for me the most fun.
At the beginning of my video, we hear a stewardess’s voice saying that we are arriving at Toronto. This allows the spectator to enter the vision of my trip.
You can see that at the beginning of the video the camera is in movement with a blur effect, which translates my vision when I arrived in Toronto. I was a little confused, I had no clear idea and I didn’t realize where I was.
Therefore the first word you see in the video is alone. Indeed, during the video, I share the words that stayed in my mind about my first experience abroad. And I illustrate them with videos of the city of Toronto, of buildings, of people, or of culture.
I used the word « impressive » because it was very impressive to be in a huge city. To illustrate this I used a video of the CN tower, which is a key in the city of Toronto, and was very impressive by its size.
I illustrated the progression by a train which advances and approaches its goal in time. I felt great personal progress, firstly through learning a new language, but also discovering life by being alone.
The word challenge, is illustrated by an ice hockey game that I saw in frebruary, but it also means that living alone, and finding myself in a new city having to fend for myself was a great challenge. In addition, when I arrived in this city I didn’t know how to speak an English sentence. It was a real challenge for me, because I am sociable and I wanted to chat with people of my class who looked really great.
I used splits screen, to remind the geometric side of the buildings which marked me a lot. The diversity of the different compositions gives dynamism to the video because it’s never the same thing. The colors used are mainly red, black and white, red and white refer to the flag of Canada Black reminds me of the nightlife .I wanted to keep the same colors through the video to keep graphic consistency. The movements are horizontal and vertical which reinforce the geometric side that we find in the city. The repetition of words also makes me think of the graphic pattern created by all these buildings in the city. The very dynamic music reinforces this industrial side of a city 6 times larger than Paris, and expresses the speed of this experience.
The last sentence of the video is a thought that I wrote, since it was only on my return to France that I realized that I had an incredible experience.
